About

Carol Adlam writes, draws, makes books, teaches creative writing and illustration, and creates innovative experiential visual and storytelling solutions. She specialises in graphic novels, scripts, short stories, graphic journalism, and creative non-fiction.

A rich and varied career has taken Carol from Melbourne, Australia, where she grew up, to Siberia and South Africa and back again to the UK. She has held many residencies, including at Girton College, Cambridge, and at the University of St Andrews. She has written and/or illustrated for The Guardian, The United Nations, the National Army Museum, Delayed Gratification: The Slow Journalism Magazine, The National Archives, among others. She is the Creative Director of the project Lost Detectives: Adapting Old Texts to New Media (University of St Andrews), and she sits on the Board of Writing East Midlands.

Carol is also Associate Professor of Illustration in the Nottingham School of Art and Design, Nottingham Trent University.
